Join Vultr as a Senior Linux System Administrator to support the company's expanding global cloud infrastructure. You will lead technical projects, manage escalated incidents, and ensure the stability of virtual machines and services across the server fleet.
This position offers the chance to mentor junior administrators and implement operational best practices within a high-growth technology environment focused on affordable, high-performance cloud solutions.
What you'll do
- Mentor and train junior system administrators on technical skills and best practices
- Lead technical projects from initial planning through to successful implementation
- Manage incident response for escalated issues and coordinate resolution efforts
- Configure and manage internal infrastructure virtual machines and services
- Plan and deploy platform upgrades and updates across the entire server fleet
- Provision software on new nodes for production and development environments
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis for platform issues
- Install and commission servers by deploying operating systems and required services
What you'll need
- At least five years administering enterprise Linux environments like CentOS or Ubuntu
- Advanced knowledge of Linux administration, performance tuning, and security
- Proficiency in Bash, Python, or other scripting languages for automation
- Experience managing virtualization platforms and containerized workloads
- Familiarity with networking technologies including routing, firewalls, and DNS
- Experience supporting web servers, databases, caching, and distributed storage
- Strong analytical skills for diagnosing complex platform and customer issues
- Excellent communication and documentation skills for cross-team collaboration
Nice to have
- Working knowledge of Cumulus Linux and PHP routing
- Experience with Ceph distributed storage platforms

- Fully remote position
- $500 stipend for remote office setup in first year
- $400 annual stipend for following years
