Join the central Design team at SandboxAQ to define how users build, evaluate, and trust AI agents. You will work on an emerging product category, translating complex technical concepts into intuitive experiences for both open-source developer tools and enterprise control systems.
Reporting to the VP of Design, you will collaborate with Product and Engineering to drive vision and execute high-impact designs. The role requires balancing power, privacy, and speed while establishing reusable patterns and design principles for the growing product family.
What you'll do
- Partner with Product and Engineering to define product vision and direction
- Frame ambiguous problems into clear design opportunities and hypotheses
- Design and prototype in code to accelerate decisions and team alignment
- Own visual and interaction design across CLI, web, console, and docs
- Develop and evolve style guides, design systems, and reusable patterns
- Conduct user research, usability testing, and analyze product analytics
- Collaborate cross-departmentally and occasionally travel for customer work
What you'll need
- 6+ years designing interfaces for complex technical domains or AI
- Exceptional visual and interaction design craft
- Strong working knowledge of AI and agentic products and systems
- Ability to clarify complex technical workflows without oversimplifying
- Fluency with Figma and AI tools for research and prototyping
- Comfort working directly with engineers on technical constraints
- Experience conducting user research and connecting needs to outcomes
- Proven success in early-stage, high-autonomy, fast-paced environments
Nice to have
- Experience designing developer tools or command-line experiences
- Familiarity with open-source products
- Knowledge of emerging machine learning workflows or agentic frameworks
- Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
