Playlab is a nonprofit building public infrastructure for educational AI, empowering educators to create custom AI applications. As a Senior Product Designer, you will own the design of Playlab surfaces from prototype to shipped product, working at the intersection of a startup, R&D lab, and mission-driven organization.
You will research and implement interaction patterns that enable teachers to become makers of technology. The role requires balancing speed with care, navigating ambiguity, and collaborating closely with engineers and the community to lower barriers to AI creation in education.
What you'll do
- Own design of Playlab surfaces from prototype to shipped product
- Research and implement interaction patterns for educator creators
- Shape how educators learn about AI and build confidence
- Define design space for fuzzy goals and drive solutions
- Collaborate with leadership to validate design decisions
- Build or curate custom tooling to accelerate design work
What you'll need
- At least 5 years of experience as a design generalist
- Strong home base in product design
- Ability to lead design projects and collaborate across teams
- Broad knowledge of creative tools and AI-leveraging workflows
- Interest in learning environments and working with educators
- Technical fluency and comfort working with engineers

- Experience in education or building edtech products
- Background in designing creative technology
