Join Vultr's Platform Engineering team as a Senior Site Reliability Engineer specializing in databases. You will ensure the reliability of MySQL InnoDB Clusters and PostgreSQL systems that power a global cloud platform. Working alongside senior peers, you will apply SRE methodologies to automate operations, manage incidents, and maintain high availability for millions of customers.
What you'll do
- Own monitoring and alerting for MySQL and PostgreSQL across datacenters
- Execute quarterly backup verification and disaster recovery testing
- Serve as first-tier on-call responder for database incidents
- Monitor replication health and manage user lifecycle access
- Track security compliance remediation and encryption verification
- Manage operational health of Debezium and Kafka Connect pipelines
- Build Puppet profiles and write automation tooling to reduce toil
- Develop runbooks and operational documentation for all database systems
What you'll need
- 7+ years in SRE, DevOps, or Database Operations at scale
- Deep expertise with MySQL InnoDB Cluster and Group Replication
- Production experience with PostgreSQL HA and performance tuning
- Proficiency with Puppet and infrastructure-as-code practices
- Experience with xtrabackup, pg_dump, and disaster recovery
- Proficiency in PHP, Python, or Go for automation tooling
- Knowledge of Prometheus, Grafana, and SLO methodologies
- Familiarity with Kafka Connect or Debezium pipelines
