  • All levels welcome

Join the Developer Velocity team at Render to design and build the internal platform that enables engineers to ship code quickly and safely. You will work across the engineering organization to identify friction in local development environments, CI/CD pipelines, and testing, then remove it through automation and better tooling.

The role involves optimizing build times, enhancing test reliability, and supporting concurrent agent execution. You will help shape the future of cloud infrastructure by ensuring the development process is efficient, measurable, and enjoyable for all engineers.

What you'll do

  • Improve speed and reliability of early change feedback loops
  • Optimize build and dependency tooling, caching, and monorepo ergonomics
  • Accelerate CI/CD pipelines while maintaining safe production paths
  • Enhance test suites via parallelization and flaky-test detection
  • Design tools to support concurrent agent execution with proper context
  • Reduce toil by automating repetitive workflows and manual steps
  • Instrument engineering metrics like deployment frequency and lead time
  • Participate in on-call rotation for critical system ownership

What you'll need

  • Experience building developer-facing tooling or internal platforms
  • Track record of driving cultural and process changes in engineering
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and production debugging skills
  • Proficiency in Go or strong willingness to learn it quickly
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes or similar orchestration
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform
  • Bias toward measurement and data-driven improvement
  • Deep empathy for engineers and their pain points

Nice to have

  • Experience with Bazel, Concourse, or GitHub workflows at scale
  • Familiarity with Datadog, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry
  • Comfort working with Linux, containers, and low-level systems
  • Security-minded instincts regarding supply chain and deploy paths
  • Understanding of how to use AI as an accelerant in development

Stack
