Join the team behind Supabase Compute, a new microVM architecture designed for agentic workloads and edge functions. You will help developers distribute compute and data globally, abstracting away infrastructure complexities like cold starts and provisioning. The goal is to enable fast, flexible runtimes for agent-driven code while maintaining high reliability and low latency.
What you'll do
- Architect and build the Compute platform on Firecracker microVMs
- Implement monitoring, alerting, and OpenTelemetry tracing for runtime visibility
- Collaborate with Firecracker and Deno teams to contribute upstream
- Participate in on-call rotation to maintain production service health
- Manage features like scheduled functions, WebSockets, and custom routing
- Integrate Compute with Auth, Postgres, Storage, and Realtime services
- Expand runtime support for AI inference and MCP servers
- Improve local developer experience via Supabase CLI and DevTools
What you'll need
- At least 5 years of backend or systems engineering experience
- Strong fluency in Rust and TypeScript
- Experience with Firecracker, V8 Isolates, or Deno
- Background in operating infrastructure at scale (Kubernetes, AWS)
- Vision for pushing compute and data to the edge
Nice to have
- Experience building developer-facing CLIs
- Background in front-end tooling for infrastructure products
