As the most senior individual contributor on the platform team, you will set architectural patterns and golden paths for engineering groups across the organization. You will balance hands-on execution in critical infrastructure code with high-level strategy, ensuring systems scale reliably while mentoring other senior engineers.
What you'll do
- Own multi-quarter initiatives like service mesh adoption and multi-region resilience
- Define architectural patterns and platform primitives for other teams to implement
- Debug production incidents at the mesh layer and resolve cross-team conflicts
- Coordinate rollouts across multiple engineering organizations and business units
- Serve as DRI for testing infrastructure strategy and pre-production validation
- Mentor Staff and Senior engineers on system design and migration strategy
- Lead large-scale infrastructure consolidations to reduce technical debt and cost
- Define metrics to demonstrate platform investment value to leadership
What you'll need
- 12+ years in Platform, Infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE roles
- Proven ownership of initiatives spanning multiple teams or business units
- Deep expertise in Kubernetes/EKS and Istio service mesh at scale
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform
- Proficiency in Go, Python, TypeScript, or Java
- Ability to influence without authority and drive cross-org alignment
- Track record of leading complex technical programs from architecture to execution
- Experience debugging distributed systems and multi-hop failures
Nice to have
- Experience with AI-native platform tooling and agentic workflows
- Background in large-scale cost optimization or vendor consolidation
- Knowledge of multi-region HA architecture and SLO definition
- Comfort authoring RFCs and presenting to senior leadership
