As the first in-house Data Engineer, you will shape the data engineering function within the Engineering team. You will bridge technical systems and business needs, working closely with data scientists and analysts to deliver trustworthy, clean data products that support Atticus's mission of connecting Americans with critical legal and government aid.
What you'll do
- Own and operate the data warehouse, pipelines, and transformation layer
- Design scalable pipelines ingesting data from platform and third-party sources
- Partner with analysts to deliver clean datasets and optimize query performance
- Modernize existing data systems by assessing and migrating legacy infrastructure
- Implement data quality monitoring, alerting, and documentation practices
What you'll need
- 4+ years of professional data engineering experience
- Proficiency with BigQuery or comparable cloud warehouse
- Hands-on experience with dbt and orchestration tools like Dagster or Airflow
- Strong SQL skills and fluency in Golang, Python, or similar language
- Track record of iteratively improving or modernizing data systems
- Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
Nice to have
- Experience transitioning data infrastructure from outsourced to in-house
- Familiarity with data observability tools
- Experience supporting data science functions or ML feature pipelines
