Join Sequen AI as a Core Systems Engineer to design and optimize the infrastructure powering frontier ranking models. You will build high-performance Rust systems that handle real-time behavioral streams and complex inference logic with ultra-low latency.

This role is central to the company's technical strategy, requiring you to replace bottlenecks with production-grade architectures. You will collaborate with Applied Scientists to scale neural network breakthroughs for enterprise customers.

What you'll do

  • Write concurrent, memory-safe Rust code for high-performance production environments
  • Optimize model serving infrastructure for ultra-low inference latency under heavy load
  • Build low-latency data ingestion systems and microservices for real-time streams
  • Design robust backend APIs, SDKs, and caching layers to maximize hardware efficiency
  • Migrate data-heavy components from higher-overhead languages to optimized Rust
  • Debug distributed system issues like deadlocks and race conditions in cloud environments
  • Establish performance benchmarking, regression testing, and real-time monitoring
  • Partner with scientists to implement scalable runtime solutions for ranking models

What you'll need

  • 6 to 8+ years of experience in software or systems engineering
  • Strong professional experience deploying production-grade Rust in high-scale systems
  • Deep understanding of Rust ownership, lifetimes, and concurrency models
  • Experience with asynchronous runtimes such as Tokio
  • Proven ability to build robust backend systems and event-driven architectures
  • Skilled in debugging and profiling high-throughput production systems
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and balancing speed with quality

Nice to have

  • Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure cloud platforms
  • Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes for container orchestration
  • Background in machine learning inference optimizations or vector search databases
  • Experience building large-scale data pipelines
  • Previous work in early-stage startups or high-growth technical environments
