As a Staff Software Engineer, you will own major product areas, designing and delivering tools that streamline operations for over 25,000 veterinary hospitals. You will set engineering standards, mentor team members, and collaborate with leadership to shape the technical direction of the platform.
The team works across the full stack to modernize the animal health industry, ensuring high performance and reliability for systems managing billions in transactions. This position offers the chance to influence the product roadmap while working in a collaborative, fully remote environment.
What you'll do
- Lead design and architecture for complex web and mobile initiatives
- Build and enhance React and React Native applications
- Set engineering standards and ensure strong test coverage
- Develop scalable components and shared libraries for team productivity
- Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance across teams
- Partner with CTO and stakeholders to execute high-impact solutions
- Optimize database queries and API interactions for performance
- Troubleshoot complex issues to improve system reliability
What you'll need
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- Deep expertise in a modern programming language and web frameworks
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript and React for large-scale apps
- Proven ability to design scalable systems, APIs, and data models
- Solid experience with relational databases and query optimization
- Consistent practice of writing well-tested, maintainable code
- Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and lead technical decisions
- Excellent communication skills for conveying complex ideas
