Join Wisdom as a Staff Software Engineer to shape the architecture of systems that automate dental insurance billing. You will build end-to-end solutions, from React frontends to AWS infrastructure, focusing on reliability and AI-driven decision making.
This force-multiplier role requires owning ambiguous problems and raising technical standards across a small, high-trust team. You will report directly to the Head of Engineering while working remotely within the US.
What you'll do
- Set technical direction, architecture standards, and roadmap for billing systems
- Build product features, backend services, and data layers end to end
- Operate AI workflows with retries, idempotency, and cost controls
- Harden integrations with insurance carriers and practice management systems
- Ensure production health through safe deploys and proactive observability
- Mentor engineers and drive technical decisions across teams
- Resolve ambiguous company-level problems without waiting for permission
What you'll need
- 8+ years building production software at staff or principal scope
- Full-stack experience from React components to AWS deployment
- Strong command of TypeScript and JavaScript ecosystems
- Deep experience deploying and debugging distributed services on AWS or GCP
- Expertise in relational databases, query performance, and data integrity
- Production experience with major LLM APIs like OpenAI or Anthropic
- Ability to manage operational realities like rate limits and model misbehavior
Nice to have
- Experience with LLM frameworks like Mastra, LangChain, or CrewAI
- Familiarity with Terraform, ECS, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines
- Working knowledge of HIPAA compliance in healthcare contexts
- Background in Series A or early-stage startups building from scratch
