Join the new NetBox Delivery team as a founding engineer and technical leader. You will define the architecture for installing, upgrading, and running NetBox across cloud and self-managed environments. Working closely with the Core team, you will ensure production reliability by fixing issues at the source rather than applying workarounds.

As the primary technical decision-maker, you will mentor engineers, set standards for testing and observability, and drive cross-team initiatives. The role requires strong hands-on coding skills alongside strategic leadership in a SaaS context.

What you'll do

  • Design software for installing and upgrading NetBox, including Kubernetes operators and controllers
  • Collaborate with Core team to improve application startup and database query performance
  • Implement observability standards covering tracing, metrics, logging, and SLOs
  • Define technical architecture for building and releasing NetBox on Cloud and Enterprise
  • Mentor engineers and conduct design and code reviews
  • Drive cross-team changes through RFCs and define release contracts
  • Act as technical escalation point during incidents and ensure postmortem actions are completed

What you'll need

  • 7+ years of software development experience with ownership of production systems
  • Strong Python skills with experience in production SaaS applications
  • Experience building on Kubernetes, including operators, controllers, and reconciliation loops
  • Proficiency in observability tools like OpenTelemetry and Sentry
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, Helm, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD/FluxCD, Terraform, Prometheus, and Grafana
  • Proven ability to lead engineering work and mentor peers without formal management authority
  • Experience working within AI-augmented development workflows such as Claude Code
  • Track record of making technical decisions under ambiguity and driving cross-team migrations

Nice to have

  • Programming experience in Rust or Go
  • Production experience with Django and Postgres at scale
  • Familiarity with NetBox ecosystem or network automation
  • Background in B2B software startups or high-growth organizations
  • Open source contributions or project involvement
  • Experience with self-managed or on-premises software delivery
  • Skills in container build optimization and Python dependency management
  • Knowledge of supply chain security and SOC 2 controls for build pipelines
