You will lead the development of unique, custom WordPress solutions, transforming designs into interactive web experiences. Acting as a technical advisor alongside the Director of Engineering, you will guide the team in clean code practices while managing complex backend and frontend tasks.
What you'll do
- Spearhead development of custom WordPress themes and plugins
- Lead code reviews and support clean code practices
- Act as technical advisor to clients on project scope
- Transform Figma designs into responsive, interactive websites
- Collaborate with UX/UI designers and backend developers
- Optimize applications for speed and scalability
- Perform cross-browser compatibility tests and bug fixes
- Implement ADA and SEO best practices
What you'll need
- Expert level skills in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Expert backend development skills with PHP
- Experience managing MySQL databases
- Complete understanding of WordPress core at code level
- Hands-on experience with SASS/SCSS/LESS and Flexbox
- Proficient with Git and Bitbucket
- Experience building custom themes without page builders
- Ability to scope complex custom WordPress builds
Nice to have
- Experience with Angular, React, or other JS frameworks
- Familiarity with Laravel, CodeIgniter, or NodeJS
- Knowledge of vanilla.js, ES6/ES2015, and Gutenberg blocks
- Experience with task runners like Gulp, Grunt, or Webpack
- Background in SOWs, RFPs, or pre-sales activities
- 3+ years of agency experience
