Join Air Apps as a Backend QA Engineer to safeguard the quality of backend systems powering an AI-driven Personal & Entrepreneurial Resource Planner. You will focus on API validation, database integrity, and automated testing while working closely with developers in a fast-paced environment.
This position is based entirely at the Lisbon office, where you will contribute to infrastructure reviews and maintain high standards across the engineering team. The company supports relocation efforts for candidates moving to Portugal.
What you'll do
- Design and execute tests for backend systems, APIs, and service integrations
- Validate API functionality and performance using Postman or Swagger
- Verify database operations, queries, and data integrity in PostgreSQL
- Review pull requests to ensure code quality and adequate test coverage
- Develop and maintain automated tests for backend services
- Identify potential reliability or performance issues in backend infrastructure
- Document defects, test cases, and results using tools like TestRail
- Collaborate with developers to improve testing strategies and product quality
What you'll need
- 2–3 years of experience in backend testing or software development in test
- Proficiency with Node.js and TypeScript in backend environments
- Experience with SQL databases, specifically PostgreSQL and query validation
- Skilled in testing REST APIs using Postman, Swagger, or similar tools
- Strong understanding of API, database, and integration testing practices
- Familiarity with test management platforms such as TestRail
- Ability to review backend architecture changes and ensure quality standards
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills in cross-functional teams
