As a Forward Deployed Data Scientist at Fundamental, you will facilitate the integration of the NEXUS model into enterprise environments. You will collaborate directly with customers to solve complex technical challenges, ensuring secure production deployment and demonstrating clear return on investment compared to legacy systems.
You will act as a bridge between client stakeholders and internal product teams, turning field observations into roadmap inputs. The work requires rigorous benchmarking, data engineering, and strategic communication to align technical capabilities with business goals.
What you'll do
- Deploy models into production use cases with measurable business impact
- Execute head-to-head benchmarking against client baselines like XGBoost
- Perform data engineering, feature engineering, and model validation
- Translate operational pain points into inputs for the product roadmap
- Handle last-mile integration including VPC, on-prem, and air-gapped setups
- Align diverse stakeholders and explain predictions to business users
What you'll need
- PhD or Master’s in CS, Math, Stats, or equivalent statistical literacy
- Minimum 2 years as a technical individual contributor
- Experience with containerization using Docker and orchestration
- Proficiency in writing performant APIs with FastAPI or Flask
- Mastery of end-to-end ML pipelines from framing to validation
- Deep understanding of PySpark, Pandas, and memory optimization
- Strong communication skills to translate technical nuances to business value
Nice to have
- Experience with PyTorch and cloud-native ML pipelines
- Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure environments
- Background as a Forward Deployed Engineer or Staff Data Scientist
- Industry-specific subject matter expertise
