You will design, implement, and maintain resilient database systems that support Air Apps' global user base. Working from the Lisbon office, you will handle tuning, backup strategies, and security for both structured and unstructured data sources.
What you'll do
- Design and maintain high-performance database systems for large-scale apps
- Optimize queries, indexing, and partitioning to enhance system performance
- Monitor database health to ensure availability and disaster recovery readiness
- Manage SQL and NoSQL databases including PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB
- Implement security policies, encryption, and access controls for data protection
- Automate backups, replication, and failover mechanisms for reliability
- Collaborate with developers on schema design and data modeling improvements
- Ensure compliance with GDPR and other data governance regulations
What you'll need
- At least 4 years of experience as a Database Administrator or similar
- Expertise in relational databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server
- Experience with NoSQL systems such as MongoDB, Redis, or DynamoDB
- Strong knowledge of optimization, indexing, partitioning, and replication
- Proficiency in performance tuning and troubleshooting slow queries
- Familiarity with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
- Experience with cloud database services on AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
- Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or SQL for automation tasks
- Understanding of data security best practices and compliance requirements
