You will design, implement, and maintain high-performance database systems that support Air Apps' global user base. Working from the Lisbon office, you will ensure data integrity, scalability, and security across both structured and unstructured data sources while collaborating directly with developers and DevOps teams.
What you'll do
- Design and maintain high-performance database systems for large-scale applications
- Optimize queries, indexing strategies, and partitioning for better performance
- Monitor database health to ensure availability and disaster recovery readiness
- Manage SQL and NoSQL databases including PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB
- Implement security policies, encryption, and access controls for data protection
- Automate backups, replication, and failover mechanisms
- Collaborate with developers on schema design and data modeling
- Ensure compliance with GDPR and other data governance regulations
What you'll need
- At least 4 years of experience as a Database Administrator or similar role
- Expertise in relational databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server
- Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Redis, or DynamoDB
- Strong knowledge of database optimization, indexing, and replication
- Proficiency in performance tuning and troubleshooting slow queries
- Familiarity with cloud database services on AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
- Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or SQL for automation tasks
- Understanding of data security best practices and compliance requirements
