You will combine visual design and engineering to solve complex UX problems for Ashby’s recruiting software. The team is expanding from five to over ten members, offering the chance to shape the product used by companies like Notion and Shopify.
This role requires proficiency in both disciplines, allowing you to own features from wireframing to implementation. You will work on a product at scale, iterating quickly based on user feedback rather than extensive upfront research.
What you'll do
- Solve challenging design problems by designing and implementing features
- Expand and enhance the in-house design system for consistency
- Consult with Product Engineers on bespoke design work
- Wireframe new flows and turn them into polished UIs
- Build flexible, composable components for setup wizards
- Improve information hierarchy and scannability of existing views
- Ship code to hundreds of users and iterate based on feedback
What you'll need
- At least 2 years of continuous experience as an Engineer or Designer
- Good proficiency in both Design and Engineering disciplines
- Exceptional proficiency in your primary discipline
- Experience designing products and shipping code to users
- Strong visual taste and execution skills
- Proficiency with TypeScript, React, and CSS
- Ability to work with minimal process and high ownership
Nice to have
- Proficiency with backend technologies like Node.js or GraphQL
- Experience contributing to a design system professionally
- Background in working with AI-powered tooling
