Payward, the parent company of Kraken, seeks a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead a Consumer pod. You will guide frontend and backend engineers in building and scaling core user experiences for one of the world's longest-standing crypto platforms.
The role requires close collaboration with Product and Design teams to ensure technical quality and operational reliability. You will shape high-impact functionality used daily by millions of global users across spot trading, margin, and staking services.
What you'll do
- Lead a cross-functional team of frontend and backend engineers
- Own end-to-end UX for key features on mobile and client platforms
- Partner with Product and Design to deliver high-impact features
- Collaborate with other managers to maintain engineering standards
- Mentor engineers and foster a culture of technical growth
- Strengthen delivery using agile processes and engineering metrics
What you'll need
- Proven experience leading teams delivering customer-facing products at scale
- Experience managing combined frontend and backend engineering teams
- Deep technical background in React Native and modern frontend architectures
- Strong cross-functional leadership in multi-platform environments
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience building large-scale consumer or financial products
Nice to have
- Background in systems design or distributed architectures
- Working knowledge of Rust, Go, or C++
- Familiarity with async architectures, APIs, and microservices
- Experience in the payments and card domains
