You will lead the team developing secure, isolated sandboxes for AI agents and reinforcement learning workloads on Mistral’s sovereign AI cloud. This position balances people management, including hiring and coaching, with deep technical involvement in architecture and complex implementation challenges.
The team builds the infrastructure that allows enterprises to run frontier models on European-jurisdiction hardware. You will design the primitives that enable thousands of concurrent, low-latency environments while ensuring airtight security boundaries.
What you'll do
- Manage the engineering team through hiring, coaching, and performance reviews
- Spend roughly half your time on architecture and hard technical problems
- Build isolation layers using microVMs, containers, namespaces, and cgroups
- Own the security boundary for untrusted code execution at fleet scale
- Optimize creation latency and lifecycle management for thousands of environments
- Write Go code and own critical implementation decisions
- Partner with Product Managers to translate research needs into shippable features
What you'll need
- At least 2 years of experience managing engineers and providing feedback
- Deep knowledge of Linux internals like seccomp, cgroups, and virtualization
- Proven track record of shipping production systems in Go
- Understanding of network isolation at the packet level
- Strong performance instincts regarding syscall costs and profiling
- At least 8 years building backend or infrastructure systems
- Experience partnering with product and business teams to ship software
