As Leap’s first engineering leader, you will transform a small founding team into a high-performing organization. You will define technical standards, manage hiring, and drive the product roadmap for a platform that connects specialty pharmacy data with employer benefits.
The work focuses on building correct, AI-native systems that handle complex real-world healthcare data. You will report to the President and co-founder, making foundational architecture decisions while remaining hands-on with code and strategy.
What you'll do
- Own end-to-end hiring to grow the team from its founding core
- Define engineering standards, interview loops, and performance bars
- Sequence the technical roadmap and make build-vs-buy decisions
- Build a cross-benefit drug identity layer for specialty therapies
- Develop causal savings attribution models for employer ROI
- Create intervention engines using AI for prediction and optimization
- Make foundational data and architecture decisions for scalability
- Unblock the team and dive into code when necessary
What you'll need
- Experience scaling an engineering team from a handful to a full org
- Proven track record of hiring and closing exceptional engineers
- AI-native background with production LLM and agent systems
- History of working at organizations with high engineering bars
- Player-coach mindset with deep technical architecture skills
- Experience shipping systems on messy, real-world data
- Focus on correctness in environments where errors have consequences
Nice to have
- Experience in healthcare, HIPAA, claims, or clinical data
- Background in production ML, causal inference, or large-scale pipelines
- Familiarity with TypeScript, React, Node, Python, or GCP
- Early-stage experience as a founder or first engineering leader
