As a Lead Forward Deployed Engineer at Eliza, you act as a coach for engineering teams working on live client engagements. You ensure high-quality delivery, guide technical direction, and maintain client confidence while developing the skills of your team members.
This position focuses on field leadership rather than administrative processes. You will balance hands-on technical credibility with strategic oversight, intervening when necessary to keep projects aligned with business outcomes and client expectations.
What you'll do
- Own delivery quality, risks, and priorities across assigned client accounts
- Guide solution architecture and technical decisions for concurrent engagements
- Review critical work and provide actionable feedback to engineers
- Coach team members on technical execution and client communication
- Serve as senior technical presence to maintain client confidence
- Define operating cadences and track commitments for each account
- Identify delivery risks and escalate issues with clear recommendations
What you'll need
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with client-facing roles
- Proven ownership of delivery quality across multiple accounts
- Strong Python skills and production AI/ML delivery experience
- Ability to develop engineers through direct and timely feedback
- Excellent communication skills for both executives and engineers
- Deep comfort with AWS, GCP, or Azure and CI/CD practices
- Strong commercial awareness of how delivery affects business outcomes
Nice to have
- Production experience with LLMs, vector search, or agentic systems
- Prior consulting or professional services leadership experience
- Familiarity with MLOps tools like MLflow or SageMaker
- Knowledge of enterprise security and data privacy constraints
- Experience scaling delivery standards in growing teams
