Join Polar's platform team to evolve the systems powering global billing and financial workflows. You will work across infrastructure and backend layers to ensure reliability, performance, and simplicity as the product scales.
The team focuses on pragmatic engineering, balancing speed with correctness. You will design abstractions and automation that help the entire engineering organization ship confidently and operate production systems effectively.
What you'll do
- Design systems that remain highly available and performant as traffic grows
- Improve cloud architecture and infrastructure-as-code practices
- Enhance observability, debugging tools, and incident response processes
- Build primitives and automation to reduce operational toil for engineers
- Implement technical systems that ensure financial correctness and auditability
What you'll need
- Strong background in backend and systems engineering at scale
- Deep experience with relational databases, SQL, and data modeling
- Ability to make pragmatic trade-offs between speed and maintainability
- Product-minded approach to balancing robustness and development velocity
- Willingness to own solutions from design through to production operation
- Focus on security, access control, and auditability as core requirements
