Join Supabase as a Postgres Deployment Engineer to elevate their PostgreSQL offerings. You will co-own the stability and deployment of products via the public supabase/postgres repository, acting as a bridge between product and infrastructure teams.
The position focuses on packaging features into Docker images and AWS AMIs, enabling users to run Supabase on cloud or locally. You will refine internal methodologies and support developer self-service capabilities.
What you'll do
- Package software using Nix flakes or Debian packaging for target environments
- Expand GitHub Actions, team tooling, and testing release approaches
- Execute timely PostgreSQL major, minor, and extension upgrades
- Identify and resolve production issues in customer deployments proactively
- Maintain best practices and tools to enhance stability and reduce risks
- Contribute to public supabase/postgres GitHub repository improvements
- Engage with customers to ensure solutions meet their needs
- Address and resolve GitHub and Support issues regularly
What you'll need
- 3+ years experience with PostgreSQL ecosystem and performance optimization
- Expertise in Ansible, Nix package management, Packer, and Docker
- Experience with QEMU/KVM, AWS, and Kubernetes deployments
- Proficiency building for Linux and Darwin/macOS aarch64 targets
- Experience with conventional and Nix-packaged builds of C/C++, Go, JS, Rust
- Willingness to work within integrated conventional and Nix-based systems
- Comfortable teaching engineering teams about Nix-based workflows
- Ability to thrive in asynchronous collaboration across diverse teams
Nice to have
- Experience with PostgREST and gotrue/supabase auth components
- Contributions to significant open-source projects in PostgreSQL domain
