As a Principal Engineer at Weave, you will shape the multi-year technical vision for patient-facing and practice-facing applications. This position emphasizes influencing architectural decisions across organizational boundaries rather than expanding individual contributor scope.
You will partner with engineering directors and product leaders to ensure long-term competitive advantage in payments, scheduling, and revenue cycle management. Success is measured by the growth of organizational technical capability through your strategic leadership and mentorship.
What you'll do
- Own the multi-year technical vision for payments, scheduling, forms, and RCM platforms.
- Drive architectural coherence across multiple teams and resolve cross-system dependencies.
- Lead technical due diligence for major initiatives including vendor evaluations and migrations.
- Solve complex company-level technical problems that span organizational boundaries.
- Shape company-wide standards for engineering excellence, observability, and reliability.
- Mentor Staff and Senior Engineers to develop the next generation of technical leaders.
What you'll need
- 15+ years of software engineering experience with progressive technical leadership.
- Track record of leading cross-team technical initiatives with measurable business outcomes.
- Ability to influence without authority and translate technical tradeoffs into business terms.
- Deep expertise in distributed systems architecture handling high transaction volumes.
- Proven experience with event streaming infrastructure like Kafka or Google Pub/Sub.
- Strong background in scalable relational and NoSQL data stores.
- Operational experience with cloud-native infrastructure on GCP or AWS.
- Solid backend engineering foundation in Go, Python, Java, or C#.
Nice to have
- Background in compliance-heavy environments such as healthcare or fintech.
- Experience shaping AI/ML infrastructure or integrating AI capabilities.
- History of external technical leadership via open source or conference speaking.
- Expertise in data platform architecture including streaming pipelines and data lakes.
