You will own the technical design and delivery of AI systems that power navigation and location intelligence. Working across teams, you will define product behavior, build measurement frameworks, and ensure high-quality releases for developers and end users.
The role requires balancing technical perfection with shipping useful increments. You will handle everything from model harnesses to data ingestion, ensuring systems meet latency and cost targets while maintaining reliability through continuous evaluation.
What you'll do
- Define product behavior and build evaluation systems for non-deterministic AI outputs
- Run continuous evaluation of APIs, SDKs, and data representations from an end-user perspective
- Own MVP delivery against technical designs while balancing perfection with speed
- Build data pipelines for ingestion, entity resolution, and quality checks
- Design feedback loops and instrument systems to capture failure context for improvement
- Design boundaries between models and tools, managing delegation and state handling
- Optimize for latency and cost per request using caching, routing, and prompt structure
- Participate in on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 system availability
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in STEM and 5+ years of software engineering experience
- 2+ years shipping LLM-backed features to real users with error budgets
- Deep data engineering skills including SQL and distributed processing frameworks
- Fluency with tool calling and agent orchestration, including handling failure modes
- Strong proficiency in Python or TypeScript and ability to read other languages
- Experience designing evaluations for non-deterministic systems and building datasets
- Working knowledge of multiple agent harnesses and their respective weaknesses
- Ability to diagnose latency issues in distributed request paths
Nice to have
- Experience with geospatial data such as routing, geocoding, or OpenStreetMap
- Public API or SDK design experience for external developers
- Experience building against MCP or similar tool transports
- Running evaluations in CI using commercial or custom harnesses
- Background in automotive, in-vehicle infotainment, CarPlay, or Android Auto
- Voice pipeline experience including streaming ASR, TTS, and wake word detection
- Experience working under constrained compute, offline, or intermittent connectivity
