ClickHouse is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to help build ClickStack, an open-source platform that transforms telemetry data into actionable insights. You will design scalable backend systems capable of handling petabytes of logs, metrics, and traces to improve developer debugging experiences.
The role involves owning key backend services and infrastructure while collaborating with the open-source community. You will work in a fast-paced environment focused on reliability and high-throughput data processing.
What you'll do
- Own and build key backend services and infrastructure for the observability platform
- Ensure reliable, high-throughput data pipelines and APIs for developers
- Collaborate with open-source contributors and incorporate feedback into architecture
- Design scalable systems for ingesting and querying petabytes of observability data
- Solve technical challenges related to production issue resolution
What you'll need
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with a backend focus
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js
- Experience with frameworks like Express or Fastify
- Solid understanding of API design, distributed systems, and data modeling
- Familiarity with containerized environments such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Passion for open source and creating developer tooling
Nice to have
- Experience with Go for contributing to Go-based services
- Knowledge of ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, or other analytical databases
- Familiarity with OpenTelemetry, logging pipelines, or metrics infrastructure
- Experience with SDKs or client library design
- Exposure to message queues like Kafka or NATS
