Wisdom combines industry expertise with technology to streamline dental billing for practices and patients. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will own end-to-end development of complex billing systems, from database schema design to user-facing React applications.
You will work on a small, high-trust team solving hard problems like reliable insurance integrations and AI-driven billing decisions. This role offers significant autonomy to shape the product roadmap and technical direction.
What you'll do
- Design and ship full-stack features including backend services and React interfaces
- Build production-grade AI workflows for automated billing decisions
- Architect resilient integrations with dental insurance carriers and practice systems
- Collaborate directly with billers and operators to translate needs into software
- Maintain high standards for code quality, reliability, and documentation
- Drive resolution of ambiguous problems without waiting for detailed briefs
What you'll need
- 5+ years shipping production software with focus on reliability and quality
- Experience building systems under pressure that require long-term maintenance
- Hands-on experience with major LLM APIs like OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google Vertex
- Strong command of TypeScript and JavaScript
- Deep experience with relational databases, schema design, and query optimization
- Cloud infrastructure experience in AWS or GCP at production scale
- Proactive ownership mindset and ability to handle ambiguous problems
Nice to have
- Experience with Mastra, LangChain, LlamaIndex, or CrewAI frameworks
- Working knowledge of HIPAA compliance in healthcare software
- Background in Series A or early-stage startups with high autonomy
