Join a Series B fintech platform dedicated to financial inclusion in Venezuela, supporting over nine million active users. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will design and maintain the core infrastructure that processes credit and payments, ensuring correctness and resilience at scale.
You will work closely with product and engineering teams to shape the platform's growth. The role involves hands-on coding, architectural decision-making, and mentoring, with a focus on building robust services that handle high-volume financial data securely.
What you'll do
- Design and build scalable backend services using Node.js and NestJS
- Create high-performance RESTful APIs for internal and external use
- Implement financial correctness features like idempotency and reconciliation
- Model and manage relational data in PostgreSQL with integrity focus
- Make architectural decisions and own system design trade-offs
- Ensure optimal service performance and manage production deployments
- Mentor engineers and lead technical discussions to raise standards
- Conduct code reviews and establish clear technical guidelines
What you'll need
- 5+ years of backend development experience
- Deep expertise in Node.js and NestJS (Express)
- Proven track record designing production RESTful APIs
- Advanced knowledge of relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL
- Experience writing unit and integration tests
- Strong grasp of design principles and architectural patterns
- Ability to ship features independently in fast-moving contexts
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Nice to have
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with RabbitMQ, Kafka, or Pub/Sub
- Background in fintech, payments, or credit sectors
- Proficiency in both Spanish and English
