Lead a customer-facing product team developing NerdWallet's mobile app and web experiences using React Native and Next.js. You will guide the shift toward AI-native development workflows while defining product strategy and maintaining high engineering standards.
What you'll do
- Own outcomes for a team of senior engineers building mobile and web products
- Shape product roadmap with Product and Design partners using data insights
- Lead the adoption of AI tools for planning, coding, reviewing, and testing
- Build compounding systems rather than delivering isolated one-off features
- Provide hard feedback and invest in the growth of high-performing team members
- Balance speed of learning with reliability required for financial advice
- Communicate team strategy and progress to peers and leadership clearly
What you'll need
- 8+ years in software engineering with hands-on individual contributor experience
- 2+ years managing engineering teams, not a first-time management role
- Experience leading an AI-native product engineering team through workflow shifts
- Strong product and business instincts for prioritization and testing
- Track record of delivering difficult feedback and managing performance
- Technical credibility in modern web or mobile stacks and architecture
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and making decisions with incomplete data
- Experience using data and experimentation to drive product decisions
Nice to have
- Experience in consumer fintech industry
- Proficiency with React Native, Next.js, TypeScript, GraphQL, and Apollo
- Background in personalization and recommendation systems
- Experience partnering with compliance and security teams
- History of defining operating models rather than inheriting them
- Experience coaching other engineering managers
