Join Hims & Hers as a Sr. Staff Engineer to define the architectural vision for customer-facing systems. You will operate at an organizational level, aligning engineering efforts with business outcomes while ensuring scalability, resilience, and operational excellence across teams.
This position requires driving org-wide adoption of scalable practices and removing blockers to accelerate strategic initiatives. You will translate customer needs into robust technical solutions and mentor senior talent to elevate engineering capabilities.
What you'll do
- Define and evolve architectural vision for customer-facing systems aligned with business strategy
- Establish patterns and frameworks to ensure quality, resilience, and operational excellence
- Collaborate with leadership to shape product direction and support strategic goals
- Mentor senior technical leaders and foster a culture of continuous learning
- Lead through ambiguity to clarify direction and remove organizational blockers
- Translate customer needs into scalable technical solutions and design principles
- Design systems to support sustainable growth and invest in reliability early
What you'll need
- 12+ years of professional software engineering experience with group-level leadership
- Experience with Kotlin, Java, or Go and deep understanding of system design for scale
- Proven track record of scaling shared infrastructure or libraries across multiple teams
- Proficiency with CI/CD workflows such as CircleCI and GitHub
- Experience with cloud infrastructure including AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with observability tools like Datadog
- Ability to drive architectural clarity and strategic technical alignment across functions
- Experience translating clinical and customer needs into reliable technical solutions
