You will define the architecture for the patient-facing Marketplace, guiding the migration from a legacy PHP monolith to a modern monorepo. Using AI agents like Claude Code, you will prototype solutions, own design quality, and establish clear contracts for system integration.
The goal is to transform Marketplace capabilities into reusable building blocks for the wider product portfolio. You will mentor senior engineers and drive the adoption of AI-native engineering practices across teams.
What you'll do
- Define target architecture for search, listings, profiles and booking flow
- Plan and execute strangler pattern migration from PHP monolith
- Move domains to be owned natively in the monorepo with data and logic
- Create reusable building blocks with clear versioned contracts
- Prototype risky migration parts using AI coding agents
- Mentor senior engineers on architecture and system design
- Contribute to Staff+ community of practice
What you'll need
- Experience leading technical direction across multiple teams
- Proven track record migrating large legacy systems under traffic
- Strong knowledge of strangler pattern and anti-corruption layers
- Expertise in distributed systems and backend architecture
- Hands-on experience directing AI agents for code generation
- Ability to maintain design correctness and security with AI
- Fluent English communication skills
Nice to have
- Experience with two-sided marketplaces or booking systems
- Background in managing monorepos at scale
- Experience exposing product capabilities to AI agents
- Knowledge of healthcare or regulated domain architectures
