Lead one or more project teams at Sierra Studio, an AI engineering studio and startup incubator. You will own delivery from scoping to shipping, set technical direction, and mentor engineers while staying close to the codebase. This position requires partnering with product, design, and clients to turn ideas into production products.
What you'll do
- Own delivery of client or internal projects from scoping to shipping
- Mentor engineers and provide feedback to help them level up
- Architect solutions and review code while staying hands-on
- Interview candidates to help grow the engineering team
- Partner with founders and stakeholders to define product scope
What you'll need
- Experience leading project teams and owning end-to-end delivery
- Track record of mentoring and growing engineering talent
- Strong communication skills for aligning teams and stakeholders
- Ability to translate vague requests into phased execution plans
- Fluent written and verbal English communication skills
- Senior-level architecture and technical decision-making ability
- Experience with prompt engineering, RAG, and agentic patterns
- Backend experience in Python (FastAPI) or TypeScript
- Proficiency using AI tools like Cursor or Claude Code
Nice to have
- Experience building products with Large Language Models
- Consulting or client-facing experience with enterprise infrastructure
- Comfort navigating customer IT, security, and change-management processes
- Experience partnering closely with product and design teams
