Join the Support Services team at ClickHouse as a Senior Consulting Engineer focused on the Japanese market. You will deliver consultative support and hands-on engineering assistance to strategic enterprise customers, helping them with implementation, migration, and optimization.
The position blends technical project work with direct customer engagement. You will handle complex support cases, contribute to product roadmap discussions, and create technical documentation while collaborating with global engineering and sales teams.
What you'll do
- Lead customer projects focusing on design, architecture, and integration
- Provide consultative support for implementation and production launches
- Handle L1 to L3 support cases when not assigned to major projects
- Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering on roadmap items
- Create public and internal documentation, including reference architectures
- Mentor new team members and assist with hiring processes
- Participate in on-call rotation for global 24x7 support coverage
What you'll need
- 5+ years in Professional Services, Support, or Engineering roles
- 5+ years experience with scalable distributed database management systems
- Deep knowledge of OLAP, Cloud/SaaS platforms, and Linux/Unix
- Experience leading large-scale technical projects with multiple engineers
- Expertise with AWS, GCP, or Azure infrastructure services
- Willingness to travel up to 35% for onsite customer support in Tokyo
Nice to have
- Prior experience working with ClickHouse
- Active participation in open-source communities
- Experience with data pipelines like Kafka, Spark, or Kinesis
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and container orchestration
