SpruceID develops privacy-preserving digital identity solutions that empower individuals and enable secure services for governments and enterprises. As a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer, you will bridge the gap between technical development and customer delivery, working directly with state governments to implement interoperable identity systems.
You will lead the design and deployment of backend and full-stack applications, ensuring they meet strict security and accessibility standards. This role requires acting as a technical advisor to public sector partners while contributing to Rust codebases and managing cloud infrastructure.
What you'll do
- Lead design and development of solutions for government and enterprise clients
- Collaborate with delivery leads, engineers, and designers on project execution
- Translate customer requirements into technical architectures and code
- Advise public sector partners on standards adoption and best practices
- Build backend, web, and mobile apps meeting security and accessibility norms
- Contribute to Rust codebases running on backend, mobile, and browser
- Manage customer deployments and support operational needs
What you'll need
- 5+ years shipping backend software in statically typed languages
- Experience with C#, Rust, Go, or Java for production systems
- Proven track record building modern, accessible, and secure web frontends
- Ability to lead cross-functional engineering efforts to delivery
- Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure and DevOps practices
- Excellent communication skills for direct customer engagement
- Based in the US with willingness to engage state government partners
Nice to have
- Strong foundation in digital identity, cryptography, or data privacy
- Knowledge of blockchain technologies
- Prior experience with public sector software projects
