As a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer at Eliza, you will tackle ambiguous, high-stakes technical challenges for enterprise clients. You will own the architecture and execution of AI projects, translating vague requirements into shipped outcomes without moving into people management.
This position requires deep technical expertise in building production AI systems and strong client-facing communication skills. You will serve as the primary technical authority on engagements, ensuring quality and managing risks while lifting the capabilities of surrounding engineers.
What you'll do
- Own end-to-end delivery quality for major client engagements
- Translate ambiguous needs into technical milestones and shipped outcomes
- Lead solution architecture and make pragmatic technical tradeoffs
- Design and deploy production AI/ML solutions using cloud infrastructure
- Act as senior technical voice for both engineers and executives
- Mentor less experienced engineers through pairing and code review
What you'll need
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with backend depth
- Strong programming skills in Python and fluency in another language
- Proven track record delivering real-world ML/AI systems to production
- Deep comfort with AWS, GCP, or Azure and CI/CD workflows
- Excellent client communication and expectation management skills
- Sound architectural judgment and ability to escalate risks early
Nice to have
- Production experience with LLMs, vector search, or RAG systems
- Prior consulting or forward-deployed engineering background
- Familiarity with MLOps tools like MLflow or SageMaker
- Knowledge of enterprise security and data privacy constraints
- Experience mentoring engineers through influence rather than authority
