Join Clair's Core Products team to transform how hourly workers access their wages through embedded financial technology. You will operate at the intersection of fintech and real-time payroll systems, building scalable products that handle millions of transactions with sub-second performance.
This position requires an engineer who thinks like a product manager, taking full ownership of the feature lifecycle from technical strategy to post-launch business outcomes. You will lead the adoption of AI-native engineering practices while designing resilient, event-driven architectures.
What you'll do
- Partner with design and product teams to define technical strategy and evaluate trade-offs
- Architect and deploy features using AI models and autonomous agentic workflows
- Design resilient systems considering latency, scale, and downstream data consumers
- Instrument key metrics and monitor performance dashboards post-launch
- Iterate on features based on real user behavior and business outcomes
What you'll need
- Deep experience building and maintaining production-grade cloud-native applications
- Expertise in React.js, TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), and Expo (React Native)
- Strong understanding of event-driven architectures and data engineering pipelines
- Track record of prioritizing user impact and accountability to business metrics
- Exceptional communication skills for a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Willingness to travel occasionally for company onsites (2-4 trips per year)
Nice to have
- Experience with Laravel (PHP) or other performant backend systems at scale
- Background in financial technology platforms or payroll systems
- Specific experience in lending, payments, BNPL, or ACH processing
