Boon is an AI platform for the construction industry, automating tasks from estimating to bid management. As a Technical Architect, you will define the long-term technical strategy across the product monolith, computer vision services, and agent runtime.
You will work closely with leadership to decide what to build, buy, or deprecate. This is a hands-on position requiring active coding, incident response, and architectural review to ensure system reliability during rapid scaling.
What you'll do
- Own end-to-end architecture across Rails, Python ML services, and data platforms
- Drive scalability and cost efficiency for computer vision and LLM inference pipelines
- Set technical direction for model infrastructure, orchestration, and evaluation harnesses
- Lead architectural reviews and mentor senior engineers on cross-system tradeoffs
- Partner with CEO and product on the 12–18 month technical roadmap
- Write production code, handle incidents, and review pull requests weekly
What you'll need
- 10+ years building production software with 3+ years in staff or architect roles
- Deep experience with large Rails or Python monoliths and data-intensive B2B SaaS
- Proven track record building computer vision or LLM agent systems in production
- Fluency with AWS or GCP, PostgreSQL at scale, and background job systems
- Experience leading architectural decisions that supported 10x growth
- Active contributor to production code within the last six months
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, Helm, CI/CD, and SRE practices

- Experience in construction, AEC, or vertical-SaaS industries
- Technical leadership experience scaling a company from Series A to C
